Case DescriptionChance Gordon, a California attorney facing disciplinary charges from the California State Bar, submitted several FOIA requests to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau for records concerning CFPB's enforcement action against Chance and the agency's subsequent communications with the State Bar pertaining to the disciplinary action against Chance. CFPB denied the request under Exemption 7(A) (ongoing investigation or proceeding). Chance filed an administrative appeal, which was upheld by the agency. Chance then filed suit.
