Case DescriptionThe Human Rights Defense Center, the publisher of Prison Legal News, submitted a FOIA request to the Bureau of Prisons for records concerning BOP staff members who were deployed to Washington, DC for riot or other civil unrest occurring outside BOP facilities since March 2020. HRDC also requested a fee waiver. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request but after hearing nothing further from the agency, HRDC filed suit.
