2024-09-13 | | MINUTE ORDER. Upon consideration of the Parties' 13 Joint Status Report, it is hereby ORDERED that Defendant National Park Service shall process a minimum of 500 pages of responsive records for each monthly production. It is further ORDERED that Plaintiff's request to increase the National Park Service's processing rate to 1,000 pages per month is DENIED. Courts have broad discretion to determine a reasonable processing rate for a FOIA request. Colbert v. FBI , No. 16-1790, 2018 WL 6299966, at *3 (D.D.C. Sept. 3, 2018) (collecting cases). In light of the National Park Service's expressed need to ensure that its resources are distributed among the many requesters seeking disclosure of its records, the Court concludes that a 500-page monthly processing rate is reasonable. Plaintiff's concern that this rate is insufficient to allow timely production is premature because the National Park Service has not yet determined the true number of responsive records in this case. So ORDERED by Judge Carl J. Nichols on September 13, 2024. (lccjn1) (Entered: 09/13/2024) |
