Case DescriptionThe Washington Post submitted FOIA requests to the Department of Treasury and U.S. Marshals Service for records. First request went to the Office of Foreign Assets Control and asked for records of licenses to any entity allowed to manage seized property. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request. The second request went to U.S. Marshals Service and asked for records of OFAC licenses given to U.S. Marshals Service to manage seized property. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request but after hearing nothing further from either agency, the Washington Post filed suit.
