2025-06-17 | | MINUTE ORDER. Per the court's Minute Order of May 13, 2025, the parties were to have filed a Joint Status Report by June 13, 2025, updating the court on the processing and production of responsive records, but failed to do so. The parties shall file such Status Report by June 20, 2025. Signed by Judge Amit P. Mehta on 6/17/2025. (lcapm2) (Entered: 06/17/2025) |
2025-06-17 | 32 | MOTION for Order PLAINTIFFS MOTION REGARDING DEFENDANTS FAILURE TO FACILITATE JOINT STATUS REPORT AS REQUIRED BY JUNE 13, 2025, PURSUANT TO MINUTE ORDER ENTERED JUNE 17, 2025 by ANTONIO GREGORY BROOKS. (BROOKS, ANTONIO) (Entered: 06/17/2025) |
2025-06-17 | | MINUTE ORDER. Plaintiff's 28 Motion for Court Supervision, Due Process Enforcement, and Request for Sanctions, 29 Supplemental Motion to Status Report, 30 Supplement to Motion for Judicial Clarification, Record Verification, and Protective Order, and 31 Motion Regarding Procedural Structure, Prior Court Guidance, and Request for Scheduling Measures are all denied without prejudice as premature. In these motions, Plaintiff challenges the FBI's responses to his FOIA requests and accuses the agency of acting in bad faith, and he demands equitable relief arising therefrom. But the requested relief is not appropriate until the FBI has completed its search, review, and production of responsive, non-exempt records (if any), and it is not in the interest of judicial economy for the court to review Plaintiff's objections on a rolling, piecemeal basis. As previously explained, see Orders, ECF Nos. 17 & 24, Plaintiff will have an opportunity to challenge the FBI's treatment of his FOIA requests after the agency completes its production and the court enters a briefing schedule. The court has now addressed Plaintiff's allegations of bad-faith conduct and requests for relief on multiple occasions, and Plaintiff is again warned that the court may take steps to bar duplicative filings of this nature. See Urban v. United Nations , 768 F.2d 1497, 1500 (D.C. Cir. 1985) ("[A] court may employ injunctive remedies to protect the integrity of the courts and the orderly and expeditious administration of justice."). Signed by Judge Amit P. Mehta on 6/17/2025. (lcapm2) (Entered: 06/17/2025) |
2025-06-17 | | MINUTE ORDER denying 32 Plaintiff's Motion Regarding Defendant's Failure to Facilitate Joint Status Report. The filing of joint status reports facilitates communication between the parties and enhances judicial efficiency by minimizing the number of documents the court must review. Accordingly, the court denies Plaintiff's request to "[r]elieve [him] from further attempts at joint coordination." Plaintiff may include his status updates and position statements, if any, in the parties' Joint Status Report rather than an independent filing. Signed by Judge Amit P. Mehta on 6/17/2025. (lcapm2) (Entered: 06/17/2025) |
2025-06-20 | 34 | Joint STATUS REPORT by FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION. (Stratton, Kimberly) (Entered: 06/20/2025) |
2025-06-23 | | MINUTE ORDER. The parties shall file an additional Joint Status Report by August 4, 2025, which updates the court on the processing and production of responsive records. If Plaintiff has received a final production, the parties shall advise whether any disputed issues remain and, if so, propose a schedule for further proceedings. Signed by Judge Amit P. Mehta on 6/23/2025. (lcapm2) (Entered: 06/23/2025) |
