Case DescriptionFurey, an attorney in the SEC's New York Regional Office, informed her supervisors and the IG that the office refused to bring investment management cases. As a result, she was not promoted to a level commensurate with the job duties she was performing. She made multiple requests for information about herself, and other employees in the New York Office, including an IG report pertaining to her claims. The agency withheld information under Exemption 6 (invasion of privacy) and Exemption 7(C) (invasion of privacy concerning law enforcement records) as well as Exemption 8 (financial institution records).
