Case Description | Citizens United submitted a FOIA request to U.S. Secret Service for records concerning communications between employees of the Secret Service and any employee of the Executive Office of the President relating to the small amount of cocaine discovered in the West Wing on or around July 2, 2023. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request. The agency told Citizens United that it would withhold records under Exemption 6 (invasion of privacy). Citizens United filed an administrative appeal. The agency then told Citizens United that it would search for responsive records. However, after hearing nothing further from the agency, Citizens United filed suit.
