    National Immigration Project and Muslim Advocates submitted FOIA requests to the Department of Justice and U.S. Customs and Border Protection for records concerning the number of prosecutions brought under 19 U.S.C. Section 1459, 8 U.S.C. Section 1325 and 8 U.S.C. Section 1326 by the Del Rio U.S. Attorney’s Office. National Immigration Project and Muslim Advocates also requested a fee waiver. The agencies acknowledged receipt of the requests but after hearing nothing further from either agency National Immigration Project and Muslim Advocates filed suit.

  2. Levitt v. U.S. Internal Revenue Service (filed Mar 6, 2024)
    Ronald Levitt, an attorney who represented the Commissioner’s Creek Reserve, submitted a FOIA request to the IRS for records concerning the Final Partnership Adjustment related to Tax Payer Year 2018. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request but after hearing nothing further from the agency, Levitt filed suit.

    Judicial Watch submitted a FOIA request to the FBI for records concerning a deceased individual named Philip Haney. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request but after hearing nothing further from the agency, Judicial Watch filed suit.

  7. PROTECT THE PUBLIC'S TRUST v. U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (filed Mar 4, 2024)
    Protect the Public’s Trust submitted a FOIA request to the Department of Education for records concerning communications from the agency concerning voter registration programs. PPT also requested a fee waiver. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request. The agency granted PPT’s request for a fee waiver. After hearing nothing further from the agency, PPT filed suit.
  8. CONSTITUTIONAL LAW CENTER FOR MUSLIMS IN AMERICA v. OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE (filed Mar 4, 2024)
    Constitutional Law Center for Muslims in America submitted two FOIA requests to the Office of Director of National Intelligence for records concerning the National Counterterrorism Center participation in the development and implementation of a Transnational Organized Crime watchlist. The CLCMA also requested a fee waiver for both requests. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request but after hearing nothing further from the agency, CLCMA filed suit.

  9. DOE v. UNITED STATES IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT (filed Mar 4, 2024)
    John Doe submitted a FOIA request to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for records concerning the agency’s unlawful release of Doe’s personal information as part of his pending immigration proceedings. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request but after hearing nothing further from the agency, John Doe filed suit.

  10. PROPERTY OF THE PEOPLE, INC. et al v. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE (filed Mar 5, 2024)
    Property of the People submitted three FOIA requests to the FBI for records concerning 00 files with the classification code 291 and field office 0 files with classification code 291. The FBI acknowledged receipt of the requests. The FBI told Property of the People that it could locate responsive records. Property of the People filed administrative appeals. After hearing nothing further from the agency, Property of the People filed suit.

  11. NATIONAL IRANIAN AMERICAN COUNCIL v. UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF STATE (filed Mar 5, 2024)
    National Iranian American Council submitted a FOIA request to the Department of State for records concerning extensive backlogs on Iranian immigrant visa interviews and adjudications. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request but after hearing nothing further from the agency, NIAC filed suit.

  13. HERITAGE FOUNDATION et al v. U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE (filed Mar 6, 2024)
    Heritage Foundation submitted a FOIA request to the Department of Justice for records relied upon by Special Counsel Robert Hur in drafting the sections of his report on President Biden’s memory. The Heritage Foundation also requested a fee waiver and expedited processing. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request but failed to grant expedited processing. The Heritage Foundation filed an administrative appeal challenging the denial of expedited processing. After hearing nothing further from the agency, the Heritage Foundation filed suit.

    Dave Sweigert submitted FOIA requests to the Department of the Air Force for records concerning the agency’s alleged relationship with various conspiracy theorists. The agency acknowledged receipt of the requests but after hearing nothing further from the agency, Sweigert filed suit.

    America First Legal Foundation submitted a FOIA request to the Centers for Disease Control for records concerning the term chestfeed and related terms that appeared on CDC’s website. AFL also requested a fee waiver. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request. The agency suggested to AFL that it might want to search another database rather than the one it had identified. AFL agreed to change the scope of the search. After hearing nothing further from the agency, AFL filed suit.

  19. POWER THE FUTURE v. U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE (filed Mar 9, 2024)
    Power the Future submitted a FOIA request to the Department of State for records concerning names and job titles of Office of the Special Envoy on Climate Control staff. Power the Future also requested expedited processing. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request. After hearing nothing further from the agency, Power the Future filed suit.
