Case DescriptionFernando Alphonso, supervising editor of digital news for NPR, submitted a FOIA request to the U.S. Marshals Service for records concerning the conditions of Ghislaine Maxwell's confinement at MDC Brooklyn. The agency acknowledged receipt of the request and denied the request under Exemption 7(A) (interference with ongoing investigation or proceeding). NPR filed an administrative appeal of the denial. After hearing nothing further from the agency, NPR filed suit.
