Case DescriptionThe TREA Senior Citizen League submitted a FOIA request to the Department of State for records concerning the Social Security Totalization Agreement between the U.S, and Mexico. The TREA Senior Citizen League also requested expedited processing and a fee waiver. The agency denied the requests for expedited processing and a fee waiver. It eventually disclosed six records, but withheld two records under Exemption 1 (national security). TREA Senior Citizen League filed an administrative appeal, but after hearing nothing further from the agency, TREA Senior Citizen League filed suit.
