Case DescriptionCitizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington submitted a FOIA request to the Department of Education for records concerning contacts with specific individuals, products, or entities associated with Ignite! Learning. CREW also requested a fee waiver. The agency told CREW its request was too broad to search. It also denied CREW's request for a fee waiver. CREW responded that the request was not too broad. It also filed an administrative appeal of the fee waiver denial. The agency continued to insist that CREW's request was too broad, even with clarification. The agency also denied CREW's appeal for a fee waiver. CREW then filed suit.
